This is a powerful little piece of advice and one that can help you in all aspects of your life.

Today I would like to write about conquering your fears when it comes to prospecting your leads.

If you are going to succeed in Network Marketing you need to learn some basic skills to start making things happen in your business. You need to be able to generate leads and you need to be able to communicate with those leads when you contact them.

If you do not make phone contact with your leads you will not convert very many into paying customers and downline members of your team! As I have said before, “people join you and not your opportunity.” Therefore you must develop some skills when in comes to prospecting calls.

I know that this can be uncomfortable and that calling back your leads is the last thing that you probably want to do, but let me tell you that this is one of the most profitable skills you can and must develop! The money is in the follow up!

There is something magical about making contact via the phone that cannot be done with email or any other form. It is one of the most rewarding feelings I can think of when you make phone contact with a lead, find common ground, qualify them for your time, and sponsor them into your business! The more you work on and develop your prospecting skills the better you will become at this and the more sells you will make!

Back to the quote at the beginning; if you continue to make the calls that you are uncomfortable with at first you will make sells, you will get better and you will no longer fear prospecting. You will come to see prospecting as money in the bank and it will become more and more rewarding.

Make a game out of prospecting! Position yourself as a leader doing an interview to see if your lead qualifies for your time. One thing I like to do is think of the type of person that I want to join my business that day and try to find them as I call my leads. It makes it more of a game.

Remember that you need to be the one in control of the conversation. Ask the questions and let them give you the answers. They should be speaking most of the time, but you shouldn’t let them get off track. If they will not answer your questions you need to remind them that it is an interview to see if they qualify for your time and to be part of your team. Don’t be a jerk, but you have to be assertive and in charge. People will follow a leader and you need to posture yourself as the leader.

My last tip would be that it is OK to let them go! If they aren’t answering your questions or sound abrasive just let them know that you don’t think that they would be a fit. If they come back and try to cooperate then give them another chance, if they get nasty then you wouldn’t want to work with them anyways and need to let them go!

So to recap…practice makes perfect…it will get easier…and the money is in the follow up! If you are the leader they will follow you.

So go out and generate some leads, call them back, and conquer your fear of prospecting today!
